To be fair I still think 42 degrees in Florida is colder than 35 degrees in Nashville. Now in Virginia Beach it's the same wet air as Florida. So 35 is cold.

Hey, it's going to be literally freezing the next couple of nights in Northern California: seriously, 32F and below. Does that count, or make us tough? :fk :rofl

Daytime temps are supposed to be in the high 40s and low 50s, which is like "real cold" for us. I'll be playing tomorrow at 1pm with a projected starting temp of 51: wish me luck! :yess
I'm gonna go low this time...

51 is balmy. You don't need luck, SJD. (At least not for playing in 51 degree temps. Your game in general might, so, good luck, I guess.)

For northern peoples, the rarest of all the winter golfs.
Agree and well done getting in some turf work in February. After an extremely snowy and cold start to this month, I was pretty much resigned to my streak ending at 35. We still have a lot of snow cover but the extended forecast is above freezing during each day and some rain here and there. We just might sneak in a round on 2/25 or 2/27. If it doesn't happen, that is okay, as all streaks come to an end.

We can see the end of winter approaching, to be replaced by the joys of soggy mud golf. :puke

Great to see the Original BK round these parts! While it would be great to see him more often, I am content with his inactivity--so long as he is not out there gayin' it up on some other golf-oriented site.

The temp never went above 53, but the wind was pretty strong at 15-20mph, and it felt cold. I mean I had to have an extra layer, besides my polo shirt. :facepalm Anyway, I shot a decent 79 and had some of the longest drives I ever had on that course, despite the cold... so maybe it wasn't that cold! :gay :rofl

WTF!? It's cold here.

I didn't sign up for this.

Oh well, at least I can get some use out of the fancy puffy jacket I bought for the thanksgiving Montana trip.

I'm playing Saturday and it will be an incredibly slow round.

I'm playing in the last tournament of the winter there is an odd number of groups so there will be one 2-some going out. Of course that is me and the guy I'm playing with. The problem is it's a shotgun start and he put us at the back of the field. So we will be waiting on 10 4-somes in front of us. These tournament rounds normally take 5-6 hours as is. I need to get the negative "can't stand waiting" thoughts out of my head now so that Saturday I can try "enjoying" the wait. :cmon

The last 3 days before work I walked 4 holes. #1 is a pretty simple par 4 (360 yards, not much trouble unless you go right). #2 is a short and very easy par 5 if you keep it out of the left trees. #8 is a tough par 3 (195 yards with lots of mounding and a bunker around the green). #9 is a fun par 5 with water on your approach/layup and OB right.

Here were my stats:
+4 score
8/9 playable drives (9/10 if you count the re-tee after hitting one OB).
7/9 FW (8/10 counting re-tee)
7/12 GIR
4/8 up & down
4 1-putts, 2 3-putts
1 double, 5 bogies, and 3 birdies (all 3 were the 2nd hole, green side in 2 and got up & down).

I feel pretty good about those stats, specially the driving and GIR stats. Hopefully I can continue that trend.

Wonderful day of February golf in shorts. It got to nearly 80* today.

I shot 85. With the exception of a couple shanks I hit the ball really well, although my round probably doesn't look like it. I was trying to play a cut and the ball was going straight. After 10-12 holes or so I corrected and started taking dead aim.

There was a little surprise on the 8th hole for any one who wants to check out the shot by shot lol. Not sure why game golf shows this hole as a par 5, it's a par 4.

The streak lives on ... 36 months and counting. I toured the "flat seven" at our Muni executive course, Huron Hills three times. My standard for an "official month" requires a minimum of 18 holes in a day.

It was a tad chilly (40 degrees or so) and no roll, just plugs. My effort was C+ with lots of poor shots and a few good ones.

I played one of the munis around here today, trying to plan around the rain. We had a pretty good soaking yesterday at about 1.5 inches (finally, yeah!), so I figured the place would be less crowded. There was no problem with the water pooling on the course, as it was bone dry before. There were more showers possible today, so I went in between bands of rain that I saw on the local radars.

Between the water yesterday, the threat of water today, the aeration done just 4-5 days ago and the cart path only stipulation (I don't care, I walk), there was a grand total of 3 players on the course, including me. I finished all 18 holes in just over 2 hours, walking. I putted everything (with the flag in) too. I got rinsed twice for about 10-15 minutes each time, but I was mostly dry. It was fairly windy though (above 15 mph, maybe 20). And I shot 77, although I can't post it. Why isn't every day like that? :rofl

Fuck it. March Golf does not deserve it's own thread in my opinion, so let's just keep heaping our wintergolf misery stories onto this pile of manure.

Went out to the east end of Long Island for an overnighter. The ever-rare winter roadgolf. Did that once about five years ago up in Lee, MA but that was kind of unplanned and spontaneous.

Played 18 at the famed Montauk Downs on Sunday and then a 2x9 Monday at the very rustic Sag Harbor "Golf Course".

I managed to break 100 at Montauk in some pretty tough conditions, something I failed to do last time in much more favorable conditions. It's a tricky course and I still don't have a good feel for it. Made some progress though with six pars. And, got to play for just $20 winter rate. And, they have fairly decent Sun Mountain rental pushcarts for just 4 bucks. This is one of the top public courses in the world, so $20 is practically free of charge. :thrust

It was a fun relaxing trip; the only downside of Montauk/Hamptons in the offseason is that all the best seafood joints are still closed for the season. :fuckall

OK, since we don't have a March Golf thread by decree of Beef saying the weather meant to keep the Feb Golf thread open, I will post this here. I am getting tired of this pattern of rain on the weekends, here. To fix that, I am taking tomorrow off with the intention of playing 36.

Montgomery, Hellabama forecast for Friday March 16. Rain, heavy at times beginning around 7AM. 2-3 inches possible. Possible flooding. High 43*. Wind building to 25-30 mph by afternoon. Potential for power outages and downed try limbs.

Better bring your rain gear, Mr. Rogers. And an extra pair of socks.

Just kidding. Enjoy your round(s).

Goddamnit. Was thinking abooot playing today but then I just saw a bunch of the tee-times got bought up within the last hour. :puke At least the courses are back in business. I suppose that is a positive development.
