What is a good score for a 2 man scrable?

Post by gpickin » Fri Jan 18, 2019 6:39 pm

Playing tomorrow in a 2 man scramble, got me thinking.

What's a good score for a 2 man scramble?
I'm playing with my brother's brother n law, he's a 10.4 and I'm a 20.1 so we have 9.9 handicap ( 30% of course handicap combined ).

Curious what you guys think a good score will be?
And wondering what the sandbaggers score :D

Predictions?
We'll probably shoot about 8 over, 2 under net if we play well.
Winning score should be about 8 under.
I'm guessing a scratch player playing with a 36, would have about 10 handicap, and they will shoot par - so 10 under
Sandbaggers will be approx 12 under or better.

A properly run event would limit the handicap difference to at most 10. The best teams will have a difference in handicaps close to 10, so your team is perfect.

Another factor is the type of handicap one has. By that I mean, is one's 18 a result of hitting 300 yard drives but losing 6 or 7 drives. Or hitting short drives and making bogey on almost every hole. The former, when teamed with a steady player will be tough. The latter will not contribute much.

Good luck. There is a lot of pressure on the 2nd player when the first player screws up. So the first player needs to be steady.
Let's Play 36
GHIN Handicap: 7.8 … 9.2 … Let’s just say I am around a 14!

So, I didn’t know but they did Have a max spread of 7... so it means that we had to play me like a 17, so 8.3 instead of 9.9.

We started well with a birdie, had a birdie on 17 as well, but we had several holes where we both dig holes on the same shots, and it cost us 2/3 shots easily.
We played some good golf and some not so good, but his usually good short game was lacking and mine always sucks.
We shot 6 over 78, so 2.7 under 69.7.
Most scores were gross around 68, a few 65s, and when I left the best scores were 60 and 61. 60 was. 2 under gross, 12 under net with 10 handicap. Tough to beat that

Curious what the last few groups got, they should be sending my photos of the results soon for the website, will share.

2 practically scratch players (1.5 handicap combined ) shot 62 gross, 61.5 net, I put a side bet on them so maybe I will win enough for a snickers ;)
