N.B.A.

Post by legitimategolf » Fri Apr 24, 2015 5:07 pm

(Let's see how fast I can clear out the room with some hot NBA talk.)

Tonight is game 3 of the first round Western conference series, Clippers vs. Spurs--my team. Well okay, so the Spurs are actually the bitter rivals of "my" original team, the LA Lakers. But these days, I look at the NBA headlines and don't even recognize 3/4's of the names, and we are talking about current star players too.

But the Spurs I recognize. Because their core players are old as dirt and on the brink of decrepitude (i.e. about same age as me). In this topsy-turvy sports world, it is reassuring to see Duncan, Parker and Ginobili, helmed by Coach Popovich, still relevant (defending NBA champions!) in this increasingly young man's game. They have earned my respect. Plus I just like the Spurs' international flavor. Tiago Splitter--that's one of the best names in all of sports right now.

Call me a bandwagon rider, I don't care. I am not a "real" sports fan, I know it. But whatever, tonight for the first time in a long time I'm actually going to tune into an NBA game.

Basketball is played @ the college level. It's where the effort is. March owns my basketball eyeballs.
As for the Spurs, yeah. I'll tune in to game 6 when they put the Cav's (I typed heat & had to go back & put Cav's, lol) down.
But only the last 6 or 8 minutes of the game.

It'd be nice if Queen James loses.
Low Round: 83, +11 Green Hill - 09/15/14
Low Round: 83, +11 Indian Meadows - 09/12/15

I don't get college ball. I'm sure they play a more fundamental and selfless team game, but that is lost on me. Sorry I am just an ignoramus, face it, I'm more interested in watching multimillionaires with prison tattoo's throwing alley oops and flashing gang signs. Anyways how many college games come down to a free throw contest in the last couple minutes? Seems like most of them. That to me is the absolute worst thing about the college hoops. That is when I throw up my hands, yell COLLEGE IS FOR LEARNING! and then change the channel.

I'm gonna end up watching the whole Spurs-Clips game when I should really be going to bed. I wonder if I can snooze in the car on the way to NYC in the morning (I'm not driving).

Chris Paul, inspired game, did a Kirk Gibson I guess. I doubt the Spurs would've made it out of the west anyways. It's the Clippers time. Maybe not to win it all but to go deep in the playoffs.

Paul's still got it, huh. Oh, well. I was thinking the Spurs would a been a good matchup to beat Cleveland. Now I can flop over to routing for the Warriors to take 'em out. Curry is good. He likes golf too. Plays out in Tahoe celeb. thing.

I am actually going to cheer for LeBron in game 6. We in the Midwest somewhat looked upon Mr. James as the anti-Christ of basketball when he left for Florida. He has completed his redemption in my book by taking the Cavs to places they could only dream about prior to this year. They may not take the title but he has performed miracles.
Let's Play 36
GHIN Handicap: 7.8 … 9.2 … Let’s just say I am around a 14!

Amen, Lebron is good guy. And how did the Golden State Warriors become such a powerhouse? For decades they were perennial punkass wannabees. Truly, nothing lasts forever.

Hey, hey, now. [You're right though...]

But this year, they have talent (lots) and they really play as a team. It's good for the Bay Area. I am even watching the last quarter or so of the games and I truly don't give a rodent's behind about basketball. King James is a beast, no doubt, and a good guy, but what the Warriors are doing is most impressive, especially Curry and all the 3 point shooting from ridiculous positions, under heavy guard. Wow!
I'm gonna go low this time...

The NBA is un-watchable but I'd still prefer Queen James loses.

I'm hearing Golden State won. Good.

Fyi - these are the facts, by numbers.

Queen James has 12 wins & 16 losses in the finals. Winning percentage: .429
Queen James series win/loss is 2 wins & 3 losses. Winning percentage: .400

He is what his record says he is.

I think when he accidentally flashed his pee-pee on live TV, it was the beginning of the end. How can you expect to carry a hobbled team to an NBA championship, how can you exude confidence, when your dong has been exposed like that in such ignominious fashion. Wouldn't be surprised if LBJ starts to decline. I sort of feel bad for him, but really it's his own stupid fault for being careless with his shorts. In a big finals game, there's cameras everywhere.

I thought everyone wore those tight stretchy shorts underneath now-a-days. Wee-wee on t.v... At least no children were able to see it. What was tip-off 9:20p.m.? Finishing sometime the next morning!

I'm no big fan myself but I continute to laugh my ass off at Rondo wiping his face with the ball. I know that basketball players get very chippy with one another but I have never seen that move before.

I missed that in game 2.

Draymond does get pretty much under everyone's skin, can't wait to see the Green-Barkley fight.
