My wife liked it. I don't think it was bad - but I thought it was kinda flat.

Ex Machina. Same underlying message as Spike Jonze's "Her": if you fall in love with an A.I., she will fuck you over and not even feel bad about it.

I didn't see "Her". Ex Machina was pretty cool while at the same time oddly short-sided. I found it engaging.

My wife made me watch Wet Hot American Summer last night. So stupid but had some good gags. I think she just likes Paul Rudd.

Mine was watching that the other night. She knew better than to try and rope me in though. I really don't get these fake-reality sitcoms, where it's trying to be completely realistic, but absurdist at the same time. The characters on these shows don't resemble actual people. To me it all resembles a comedy improv workshop. Parks and Rec I think is another one of them. The Office probably started it all. I'm pretty sure I could watch every minute of the entire run of the Office completely stone-faced without laughing once. No offense of course to any Office fans here.

Kingsman was better then expected. Just an entertaining movie.

The Cobbler on the other hand (i was desperate and on netflix) was terrible.

I agree with both. I couldn't even make it 1/3 of the way through The Cobbler.

My wife forced me to watch Anchorman 2 yesterday. I had a lot to do but said "okay, I've only got about an hour and a half though". We start the movie. It's so dumb. And it kept going on and on. Finally I was like "How long is this freaking thing!?" and I click the remote to show the time remaining and we are watching the extended cut version which was two and a half hours long! I just got up and left.

Just finished watching original Star Wars trilogy with my sons, now borrowing prequels from a friend to watch in anticipation of ep. 7. My older boy is SW crazy.

Caught a bit of Baz Lurhmann's 2013 The Great Gatsby. It put me in a funk for the whole next day. Why is that stupid book canonized in the first place? Why is Tobey Maguire a movie star? The movie is like, an ode to everything that is pointless about life.

Finally watched "Extract" at Jfurr's urging. It was good but nowhere near Office Space or even Idiocracy. There were some funny scenes. I don't see how a Mike Judge film could not have some big laughs. The gigolo guy was funny. "Are there any other people you could like, referral me to." And the psycho bong guy too. "Now exhale, HARD!!!"

I liked that movie too. I remember I liked it but don't remember any certain scene.

Recently got this new doohickey called an Amazon Firestick, you plug it into the TV. Evidently you can watch movies and tv shows and shit through this thingamajig, but I'm mainly using it to put YouTube on the big screen.

For some random reason I was interested in brushing up on Star Wars lore, specifically the formation of the clone army, so I checked out Episode 2, a special "non-cheese" fan edit. It looked great, HD and everything. Unfortunately the HD does not do any favors for this CGI spooge-fest. Anyways, it was cool and I was amazed to be watching a major studio movie for free on the internet. Then about forty minutes in, the video and audio got out of sync, and that was the end of that.

Welcome to the 21st century mate. We've been using Roku's for the past year or so.

Also going to introduce my 8 year old son to Star Wars in the coming weeks because he wants to see the new one when it comes out.

Watched Dead Snow. It's a Norwegian slasher/horror. Subtitles & all. I kinda liked but it definitely wasn't great.
I get all my movies through Netflix but watch alot of YouTube on my t.v. & tablet.

You are the cutting edge, one of those "cord cutters" I read about. I am part of the old fogies set, still attached to the cable tv teat.

I read this thing about Star Wars, watching it in this sequence: 4,5,1,2,3,6. So you still begin with Luke's journey, and end with the destruction of the Empire. But after "Empire Strikes Back" ends with the shock of Vader revealed as dad, then you flashback to Vader's backstory, which leads you right up to his final redemption and demise. You can even skip Phantom Menace, since it doesn't really give you anything substantial about the Anakin backstory except maybe that he's good at flying spacecrafts, and also kind of sucks. Then again it had Darth Maul, who I always thought was a pretty sweet villain.

I watched the new trailers on youtube. Awesome and poignant seeing the imperial Destroyer buried in the sand. Storywise I guess that's where it's going--life after the fall of the empire. Looks like there's a black kid playing a stormtrooper trying to make sense out of life now that he is out of a job. Then he switches allegiance to the rebel alliance it seems like? Or DID HE. Hmm. I sense a kind of inter-galactic "Homeland" situation here.

My wife took over opening/paying the cable bill because each month I got closer to throwing an HD antenna on our roof and going to Hulu/netflix.

The only thing holding me back was live sports. I can't find a way to watch that with out cable.

I don't have cable tv. Been almost a year, I think. I have a Mohu Leaf indoor HD antenna, use Netflix, watch YouTube, & mess around on my tablet.

Don't miss cable tv one bit.

Oh, forgot - HBO Go too.
