Build a Castle on the Course

Post by bkuehn1952 » Sat Feb 20, 2016 3:46 pm

A ratty little public course I play on the edges of the golf season has a castle. The castle wasn't always there. The course preceded the castle by decades.

I imagine the castle owner thought, cool, I can build my castle at the end of the cul de sac, surrounded by trees and away from the lowly masses. Plus, I have this golf course over in the backyard serving as a free green space buffer from all the rabble. Probably the day after he moved in he suddenly noticed his castle was under assault. Boing, another TopFlite careens off his walls, crash, his picture window is shattered.

Obviously his preferred way to handle this would be a high wall and moat but the cost of 30 foot walls and moats might have made him pause. So no his castle has this nice view:

If this guy plays golf, I doubt he wants to spend time with us at Hilltop Municipal Golf Course. Kind of makes one wonder why he located his castle there. Probably trying to get a castle on the cheap.
Let's Play 36
GHIN Handicap: 7.8 … 9.2 … Let’s just say I am around a 14!

I want to use the title of this thread for my spiritual self-help golf book.
