Parent's Music

Post by bkuehn1952 » Mon Apr 25, 2016 10:57 am

What kind of music do/did your parents listen to? Mine & my wife's parents were Andy Williams/Frank Sinatra/Nat Cole/Perry Como listeners as well as Broadway shows for my parents. My father once visited "The Peppermint Lounge" in NYC during a business trip in 1961 or 1962. He said he saw an enlisted sailor and another guy get into a knife fight so he made a quick exit. Google that name.

At any rate, I have found myself listening to my parents type of music more frequently. Seems somewhat natural since that is what I heard at age 3-12, before I developed my own taste.

That's a badass story, the knife fight at the Peppermint.

My dad was pushing 50 when I was born, and he comes from the old country. He listens mostly to opera. I actually have a few opera albums that I listen to from time to time, mostly Verdi and Puccini.

My mom is typical baby boomer, listened mostly to malt shop oldies, which I enjoy as well.
Bluto did it
