Who remembers "gpickin" from oobgolf?

Post by bkuehn1952 » Tue Oct 04, 2016 1:34 pm

Raise your electronic hands.

He asked about GPS phone apps back on the old oobgolf website. If one has any advice, it was in "Forums" ... "Bugs" I still have a flip phone so I am no assistance in that area.

I think I remember him as a guy from Bakersfield, since I have an old friend from there as well.

I remember him. Tell him to look at Golfpad or The Grint. Golfpad is the better of the two. I'd tell him, but I'm not allowed there anymore.

Hell, tell him to get his ass over here and visit all his long lost oob friends.

I left a link to this site if Mr. Pickin ever looks for a response to his inquiry. People are sort of odd sometimes. They ask a question and then never come back for the answer.

I remember that guy. Big Aussie (or maybe Kiwi?) guy that lived in Bakersfield. Beginning hacker that went hard at it for a while, and was making massive improvements, got to low teens cap, then made a baby and dropped off the face of the planet.

Then again, the guy bags a majestic 7-wood, so maybe it's legit.

Hmmm. Tracfone pre-paid flip phone, aka a burner. A favorite folder for investment accounts (likely offshore). Red sports car that he 'posed in front of'.

Brian's a drug kingpin.

FYI - I have read some of the stuff on here over time, but I finally signed up.
Its good to see you guys are still chatting it up.

Yup, I'm back.

For the record.
Yes I am a Kiwi, from New Zealand.
Living in Bakersfield ca, moved from New Zealand when I was 21... been here 16 years.

I was a hacker, then i got down to a 15.

I had a child, but i was still playing golf after her.
I had a 2nd child, and was still playing some.
My 11 yr old step daughter started playing soccer in a travel team a year after i had the 2nd child and that killed all my weekends.

Plus the wife was at school full time for her teaching credential, so homework meant I had to keep the kids out of her hair.

So... long story short.
I have only played 5-6 rounds in the last 2.5 years...only broke 100 1 time, i think.

My wife is finishing her credential, so she'll be back at work soon full time soon.
My young kids are 4 and 5, so they're easier to handle.

My daughter is still playing soccer, but the coach plays golf too.

I quit my day job and started my own company ( so i have more control over my time, some )
I am working for 2 golf courses on their websites, and some other tools to help make their business better.

I just joined the men's club, to force myself to play.
I joined here.

I think i have the time to be able to talk on this forum.

The main reason I didn't keep talking was, its an addiction.
I'm addicted to good people, golf stories, and it makes me want to play, A LOT... so i had to restrain.

No offence ;)
Anyways, I'm back. ( I think i made up for 4 years with one post lol )

I can't believe it was 5.5 years ago when I was GOW on oob ( found this page http://www.oobgolf.com/content/golfer+o ... ickin.html )

Good seeing you guys.

Wow, pretty amusing thread, BK's senior citizen phone etc.

Welcome GP. Good to hear your comeback story. And don't worry, you can talk about Skygolf here.

So if people aren't posting scores there, is there something better?

To be honest, I'm a developer, and if i can't find something that does it well, i'm going to build my own.
I'm venturing into Golf tools and apps with the golf courses I'm working with.

I thought it would be cool to travel sell and play all at the same time right.
Put my work addiction and my golf addiction together :)

So what are people using for scoring?
Are you using a mobile app for scoring to go with it?
