lol, just got caught up on this. I'm an idiot, but I just pick it up & see how heavy it is... or just say fuck it & get a new one if I don't wanna have to run out while tryin' to grill for a bunch of peoples.

I pick it up and swing it a little. If there is gas inside you'll feel it continue moving when you are holding the tank still.
Keep it short stupid.

Make sure the gas is turned off and then disconnect the tank and rest it on level ground. Pour a glass of warm water down the side of the tank and then feel the area. The liquid propane inside the tank will absorb the heat from the water.

Why are we having a discussion about propane tanks? If someone was foolish enough to try to play golf in temperatures close to -0- (c), they did not know their propane tank was perilously close to being empty, it ran out on the 12th hole and they had to play the balance of the round freezing their bums off, well, then I can see the utility of this discussion. I say old chap, CeeBee, are you now sufficiently schooled in the art of assessing the state of one's propane tank? ;)
