Re: The El Tigré Thread

Post by legitimatebeef » Mon Apr 15, 2019 1:21 pm

Happy for Tiger but honestly a little ambivalent about being pulled so hard back into tv golf fandom. PGA Championship is coming up in about a month. Considering the proximity to what just happened, the hype is going to be out of control. Well guess what, PGA Championship is at Bethpage Fuckin Black, a couple towns over from Beef's Landing. Prior to yesterday I had no designs on getting anywhere near this Long Island douchefest. But everything's changed now. I have to start making plans, no choice in the matter really. :facepalm

Anyone noticing a surge in recreational golf activity post-Masters? I went to hit balls last week and I know it's a small sample, but the place was definitely busier than normal. Believe me, I have my finger on the pulse of this place. I have the best words and I am like, very smart. Anyways where was I. The Tiger Effect. Fuck. Summer golf is going to suck.

:nope

Well it's not me. Not sure why but I've lost interest in golf. Some combination of...
1) too busy on the weekends to justify 5 hours away from family
2) I don't have time to practice and get better
3) I've started playing a poker game every week (night when family is sleeping) so that gets all my competitiveness out.
4) tendonitis
Keep it short stupid.

Since you are not a NYC area golfer I am not glad to hear any of that. I'm sure tendonitis keeps a lot of people away. However I believe the Tiger effect is stronger than most cases of tendonitis.

I will test the "Tiger" effect this week. Been on the road and the weather here has sucked.

Let's face it Tiger at Quail Hollow would have been a little premature. After all the Masters was a big fuckin' deal, arguably the 2nd biggest win of Tiger's career, the first being the 1997 Masters. I think some extended time is needed to reflect on not just this victory, but the eleven years in the major championship wilderness that preceded it. And because Tiger is old and rickety now, even more recovery time. As a result the PGA is going to be off the hook as the kids like to say. It's not just the next major championship, it is the return of Tiger.

He needs some time to wallow in the glory of his Masters victory. No need to rush back out.

I give fatass a hard time but here, he is one of us. A Tiger Tard that is. A huge Tiger Tard too. I am surprised at the depth of his appreciation for Tiger Woods. Obviously he is reading teleprompter, but there is no mistaking the enthusiasm. This is quite the oral history of Tiger's whole career!

No Tiger onsite today. That is to say no onsite practice, the day before a so-called major championship. Very concerning from a Tiger Tard perspective. Retreat!!!

Decent -2 today, currently T17, 5 off the lead. Call me crazy but I feel like this guy has a decent shot at winning the tournament. :up
