I actually like Tiger to win. Stars are lining up IMO.

One of the guys I play golf with scored Monday tickets. His wife aced out everyone else before he could ask anyone else if they wanted to go.
I will stand in the fairway, I want to be out of your range.

Surprised you guys aren't all excited about the Ma-hasters yet. I actually am for a change.

I'm going to be down in FL for the masters. I'll be visiting w/ my family before heading to my wife and son's Augusta Nationa (aka Disney World) on Monday.

I'm looking forward to it. I am always torn between playing golf and watching the Masters. It usually comes down to if Tiger is in the mix as to whether I will play early on Sunday afternoon. If he is, I will not play. If he isn't, I might play, but will want to be done by 3:30 or 4 so I can watch the leaders on the back nine at Augusta, the most exciting nine in golf.

I will watch the Par 3 on Wednesday. The parts that are televised. It will be live-streamed on my computer whenever it is not being televised, starting first thing Thursday morning. I won't make tee times for myself until I see how things are shaping up on the leaderboard and see who is playing when. It is, and has always been, my absolute favorite tournament of the year, even without Tiger. The (British) Open is #2. Having Tiger in contention at any event gets me excited, but having him in contention at the Masters is over the top for me.

I’m with you beef. I feel it. Tiger for the win. Wouldn’t that be something. I may try to squeeze in some golf but as Doug says, it all depends on how things develop.

I don't know his putting has looked iffy at best, but the good news is he can probably read those breaks in his sleep. In Austin it did look better, but he seemed to miss due to bad reads and not bad putts.

His driving is the best I ever remember it being in my life, but at ANGC the tee shot isn't too important, it's all about 2nd shots which is where he still has a big edge over 95% of players.

Would it surprise me if he won? No absolutely not, but I'm also not going to get my hopes up either.

All I know is I will find some time to grill myself up a pimento cheese sandwich sometime this week.

Agree with your putting assessments. He has to hone in on the short putt. If they drop look out.

I was just watching some of the Women's AM taking place at Augusta National this week. I am surprised at how dormant much of the grass still is. It better green up fast. The world will be watching next week. Normally by the Masters, everything there looks green and lush. Wonder if they will be spray painting during the dark hours to make everything look great on TV, or if CBS will be using special filters to enhance what green there is. Otherwise, Mother Nature has a lot of work to do over the next few days.

Spray paint?! I know this happens in golf sometimes, but I still find it ridiculous. As ridiculous as simulated wood-grain paneling on automobiles in the 1970s. The Augusta National is becoming a victim of their own fake-ass image. They can get away with it now. But decades from now, when the Earth is ravaged, the climate totally flipped upside down etc, Augusta will have to resort to far more than spray paint. It will become a full on potemkin village sort of situation, I believe.

Open Championship probably don't use spray paint. The 2006 edition was played on a completely brown course. In my recollection at least.

I thought the women aren't getting to play ANGC until the final round. They are playing the first 3 rounds at some other course.

That other course must be halfway decent, if it could fool a longtime golf fan.

What do you guys think about the women's amateur thing? I hardly have shits to give but seems like it's pretty divisive topic. Either you feel it's a wonderful act of inclusion by ANGC, or a paltry token gesture that doesn't actually amount to that much. I am more with the latter.

Totally agree. I can’t believe the leadership down there even entertained this idea BEFORE the big show. The week after? Maybe...

Tuned into the women's am thing just to see, what condition the course conditions are in. :puke I think DougE's hunch is correct, the course is not as amaaaazing as people probably think it should be. But so what. It is a golf course. I.e. outdoors. You can only play God so much with agrononomy or whatever it's called. Every year ANGC gets more out of step with the actual world IMO. You obviously cannot manipulate the weather and yet the expectation of a some immaculate heavenly cathedral of golf remains. And they will keep trying to pretend that they live in the prior geologic age.

The Open Championship, ironically (since it is also the oldest) is also the golf championship of the future.

A "big" person seems to have an advantage hitting. Maybe the muscle strength to just walk around and sit up results in a more powerful swing.
Let's Play 36
GHIN Handicap: 7.8 … 9.2 … Let’s just say I am around a 14!

Yeah man, wut? Sorry to be a fat shamer, I was just astounded at the size of some of them. And then I started wondering about deep footprints on the green and stuff like that. I should just stop. This stuff is complicated, way more complicated than just diet and exercise etc.
