2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black

Post by legitimatebeef » Wed May 15, 2019 1:59 pm

That's right Jack I made a special thread for this event. Because I know this stupid course pretty well, I am going to provide some special asshole insights along the way.

For instance, on "Live From" they keep showing a wide shot of the par 5 #4. It looks flat on TV. But I know that it is so steep. The layup is blind and so is the green, even from short distance. The green is also really shallow. I hate this hole.

5-time Masters Champion Tiger starting on #10 which is such a hard hole. I hit a really good 4-iron here that one time with Jfurr. It flew onto the green. Too bad it was my third shot.

5-time Masters Champion Tiger forced to layup from the rough, because like a lot of these greens, #10 is completely fronted by rough. No run-up possibility whatsoever.

The 11th tee shot is about as bad as it gets. Stand on the tee and you cannot make out the hole or the fairway. Other than a bit of bunker, all you see is a bunch of grass. Not a single tree. But there are a few tee shots like this on the course. #6 is another one. Blech.

I need to thank you. I knew that the tournament started this week, but I've been so busy I didn't even realize today was Thursday. So now I have it up streaming on my computer and between tasks I can keep an eye on it.

I guess they are playing preferred lies? Is it that wet? If so the rough is probably even more brutal than normal.

Chez falling back is a certainty. This course will eat up the short hitters sooner or later.

Surprising they would do that in a so-called major championship.

Are they, or was Molinari's ball plugged? He dropped from knee height, so I don't think it's LCP.

Having headphones on to listen while working makes me wonder why anyone can live in NYC. These people are terrible (gallery that is). The crap they say, there is no value to it. It's like their only intent is to get their annoying voice heard on air.

Shinnecock was unwatchable for the very same reason. Those are the people I have to rub elbows with if I ever want to play golf in any sort of non-Arctic conditions. I hate it. I actually tuned out before the end of 5-time Masters Champion Tiger's round. Fuck this shit.

I got Fleetwood 33-1 to win, Finau at 35-1, plus 1.15-1 for a top 20, Matt Wallace 10.5-1 top ten, Schauffelle 28-1, and Eddie Pepperell 12.5-1 top 10, and Speith at a little over 2-1 to miss the cut. Also a ton of head to head matchups, but nothing involving 5-time Masters Champion Tiger.
I will stand in the fairway, I want to be out of your range.

I was so wrong to doubt the Chezmeister. -2 is great for someone his size.

He probably will but too little too late.

Danny Lee by the way is only nine holes into round 2 and already back to even par. :fuckall

NY area golf fans are universally considered the worst in the world. They also have a special affection for Phil Mickelson. You do the goddamn math.

#5 is such a difficult tee shot. It appears like it wants a left-to-right ball. But you have to hit it perfect if you do that. Better to pound a draw. But then there is woods all along the right side. I hit the fairway once, it went pretty far. But usually I yank it into the left rough. From there it seems almost impossible to even chip it back in the fairway. Very possible to yank it left again, or hit it through the fairway, that's how bad the rough is usually.

With 5-time Masters Champion Tiger playing like crap, and the crap you hear from the douche bags in the gallery this is almost unwatchable.
