I also think he's a worthy successor to Seve Ballesteros. Unlike some people.

Re: 2020 PGATOUR thread
Sorry, the name Jon Rahm does not sound Spanish enough for me.
Let's Play 36
GHIN Handicap: 7.8 … 9.2 … Let’s just say I am around a 14!

Yeah what is up with that. Too short for a Spanish name, no flair whatsoever. And also I thought in Spain, jo- is pronounced like "ho". What gives? Maybe his parents knew that someday he would become a sports star in North America and so they gave him a local kind of name.

Re: 2020 PGATOUR thread
That's because this is not his name: his real name is J.o.n Rahm (minus the dots, as something is forcing the H in there, despite me not writing it), and if pronounced in proper Castilian Spanish would sound Spanish enough to you. It starts with a J, which is a "jota", and sounds almost like one is gargling...bkuehn1952 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 3:57 pmSorry, the name John Ram does not sound Spanish enough for me.

Re: 2020 PGATOUR thread
That sounding of "jo" as "ho" is more a South American pronunciation. In the Spanish of Castille (i.e. Spain), the j is guttural, almost sounding like one is gargling.legitimatebeef wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 3:47 pmYeah what is up with that. Okay, @legitimatebeef , you got me. I looked at my " John Ram" spelling and I was cursing spell check, and then I thought, wait...someone is fucking with my spelling.

Re: 2020 PGATOUR thread
Oops. I did that a long time ago and totally forgot about it. My first impression when seeing that name was, "that H looks to be in the wrong place". Also moving that one letter around turns it into something badass. "John Ram" is like, the titular protagonist of a blockbuster action movie franchise.

The PGA and ESPN are trying to exploit the vacuum of major championship golf by price gouging for access to early round coverage. #capitalism #toughtimes #fuck

If we piece together enough twitter clips, maybe it'll add up to about the same as a regular telecast.

Re: 2020 PGATOUR thread
I think I am an actual Rory M. fan now. Out of all the current multiple major winners, Rory just seems the most normal and down to earth. On Friday he intentionally gave himself a worse lie, which is totally like something I would do. He didn't go after Trump nearly as nasty as I would have liked to have seen but at least he criticized. That took major balls. He stands alone as no other pro golfer has the guts to say anything negative. You know he's gotten death threats, some probably from fellow players, such as Jim Herman or whatever.

Yeah, I'm beginning to get on the Rory bandwagon myself. He's becoming quite likeable. And, he doesn't come across as being full of himself to me, like Brooks Koepka does in front of a microphone.

Watching in horror as POTUS's buddy just birdied to tie for the lead with a few holes to go. To be fair the story of how Jim Herman got helped by his famous friend is somehow not entirely puke-inducing.

Billy Horschel choked on that putt at 18. He decelerated IMO. Nerves. Now Trump's buddy wins and Trump will somehow take the credit in a tweet later on.

I honestly kept checking Donnie's twitter yesterday, fully expecting the big gloaty self-congratulating tweet about Jim. But it has not come. Sad. He plum forgot about his old protege. I can totally picture it. "Jim who? Herman? Never heard of him."

Re: 2020 PGATOUR thread
I suppose the ol' fat orange-faced walrus was slightly sidetracked due to his brother's passing, so couldn't tweet by the end of the night regarding Jim Herman's win (which surely would not have been possible were it not for Trump...according to Trump). Besides, he wanted to squeeze in 36 yesterday.....you know, to take his mind off the terrible tragedy of losing his best friend and brother.
I'm confident he'll be back to taking full credit for everything good (that he has nothing to do with) and denying his responsibility for everything bad (of which he is directly responsible) in short order. It's been nearly two days now since his brother died. I expect his propaganda-producing thumbs to go back to work creating more lies any moment now.

Brooks is now officially struggling with injury problems. Maybe he will shake them off no big deal. But it should be interesting to watch since he's so arrogant and defensive about everything, how he deals with all the questions and scrutiny while on the road to recovery.

Merged topic into PGATOUR thread for sake of organization. One no name player's 59 is not thread worthy. The new benchmark anyways is 58.

The only official Japanese tournament played in Florida.
The Tour must have done something great for ZOZO to have them remain the sponsor.

California not Florida. Sherwood CC just north of LA where the Tiger World Challenge used to be held back in the good old days. I've always liked this course on TV and video games.
