I am the pollyanna Tiger tard now. Rejoice for a made cut and a shot--however distant--at a major win. Winning is great and all but the real name of the game is having fun, and he is doing just that. I keep thinking back to the DUI. We all wrote him off for good, every single one of us. Nobody, I mean nobody, saw any of this coming. What Tiger Woods is doing now is not just icing, it's more like a whole new extra layer of cake, piled on top of an already magnificent cake.

My golf hero has not given me what I really want, hope. Okay, maybe Tiger can get his shit together for the US Open and/ or the Masters. I am not expending any energy hoping for that.

This week may be a lost cause but judging by how Tiger is playing today, I am feeling pretty retarded about the upcoming events. :up

Finishing under par was great but it was all done after the pressure was off. I refuse to get excited. :nope

Tiger is back to playing old faithful, the 14 major winning putter is back!!!
I guess bending over and causing back pain is worth it for more wins.

He played some solid golf, even with 2 bogeys.

But look at Sebastián Muñoz - 6 under through 6 holes - WOW

Payne's Valley looks pretty amazing.
Adding to the bucket list?

Watching the replay.
I like watching this format too, getting to listen to the players, talking crap, giving advice, etc.

They even made a reference to the Marty Byrd in the Ozarks on Netflix having to go find Justin Rose's ball.

Tiger's latest back surgery is major news, I am afraid. Though discectomy is fairly minor procedure, it appears that playing high level golf continues to mess up the back. He has had so many surgeries by now and even if a person could theoretically continue to repair themself surgically, would they want to? The returns are diminishing at this point anyways. That is to say even with a normal healthy back, it would get harder and harder to win, for any golfer in their forties. I don't doubt that Tiger's talent is still exceptional; I just imagine it's hard to keep up the grind full-time at that age, and having achieved so much success. We have already heard about the insane preparation and physio required for him to play even just one competitive round these days. Three more major titles (to tie Nicklaus) seems out of reach. Perhaps the only real feat left is one more regular Tour win, just to inch past Sam Snead's record and become the single winningest PGAT player of all time.

Yes, time for Tiger to spend more time with the kids and on his boat. He has played enough and done enough for golf. Ending up in constant pain or with a limp is not worth it.

I hate to say it, but when I saw him at the Genesis being interviewed, something seemed off to me. His eyes were red. My wife actually pointed it out. Wanted to believe he had a cold or allergies or something. Still hoping that's all it was. C'mon Tiger. I'm pulling hard for you.

I saw the "Tiger Woods in Car Accident" heading on the internet and figured it was a joke. Nope. What I have read, it was a tough accident.

Limited info, but beginning to sound more positive, relatively speaking. "Compound fractures" was one of the headlines. Not counting any chickens just yet. Looking forward to Sheriff's dept. news conference at 6.

Don't like Tmz but they are probably the best info source during unfortunate times like these. I suspected the worst about TW but evidence suggests a bad case of lead foot and maybe just a bad driver of cars. He was on his way to a morning tv shoot, not cavorting around with whores, and not ostensibly on drugs, according to first responders. :up Here's to some better news tmrw.

Bad enough his body took a beating, good to hear he probably did not ruin his reputation again (except as a driver of a car).

Initial med reports suggest he is not totally out of danger, just yet. Infection still a concern. Process to detach muscle from bone to reduce excessive swelling evidently means a full recovery may be more challenging. But the process was necessary to save the leg from amputation. Yet, no one is betting against Tiger coming back to play golf at a competitive level, just yet. Realistically, at this point the message seems to be, "let's just hope he can walk normally someday, without too much discomfort or a permanent limp."

He gave it his best and came back from the depths to win the Masters in 2019. No one should expect more from this man. I will hope for miracles, and to see him play once again, but really I just want him to enjoy his life, whatever that looks like going forward. He has given me so many thrills over the years, I can't ask for more.

This week, the Tiger Era of golf on tv finally ended. Of course I might still tune in here or there, if something interesting is happening. I won't block Golf Channel or anything drastic. Just feels like golf, it's no longer a default destination on my tv. Actually, it has been happening for a while. The number five golfer in the world presently is Tyrell Hatton. I don't even know who that is!!!
