Though frustrating for those of us who want so much for Tiger to come back and be a force on Tour again, it is surely much more frustrating for him.

I really believe if he would just get down on his knee and give Butch a call, he would have a chance to save his back, save his chances to break Jack's record, and extend his career enough to win multiple times on the Senior Tour should he decide to go there. The talent is there. Somewhere. He's proven that. But his ego and stubborn nature are going to ruin him if it hasn't already. I truly think Butch, in tandem with a physical therapist who thoroughly understands the mechanics and stresses of the golf swing, could help him immensely. Unfortunately, Tiger, being Tiger, doesn't think anyone can help him more than he can help himself.

You mean like Chris Como? I think he has a masters in biomechanics, where his focus has always been the golf swing.

Come on. No one really thinks there's still a chance he breaks Jacks record, right? That ship has sailed.

Yes, but he's no Butch. And I doubt they could, or would, work together.

Some analysts, with far more knowledge of Tiger than me, have qualified that IF Tiger can get healthy, he still has a good shot. I think even Brandal Chamblee admitted that.

I agree with this. But at this point that IF is starting to look really slim.

Like as slim as all of the following happening in the same year.
Britain leaves the EU
Trump becomes president
Leicester City wins the English premier league

Sounds more like the golf analysts and industry as a whole trying their hardest to hold on to the hype.

Tough conditions probably factored. Was playing bad enough in mild conditions, probably would've struggled to break 80 in the wind.

Anybody else think going to the middle east was a bad idea? That is a long flight even for a healthy backed person. But serves him right for chasing appearance fees. I often wonder how those sheiks manage to attract so many top athletes, not just golf but tennis too. Personally I would think it's best to steer clear. That whole region is a hornet's nest. I know that VIPs can probably do whatever they want there but beneath the surface some of those countries like UAE are still backwards, corrupt and downright medieval. I think you can technically get prosecuted for holding hands with your wife in public. Oh but they're rich so I guess all you libtards can look the other way.

That flight does not compare to what any of us are used to. He still has his own gulfstream, one stop and he's there.

Tiger should work with Freddy - he sure knows how to work around back problems. I know how it is, during the round no problems to speak of but a couple of hours later it's hard to even get out of your chair.

He actually had to fly commercial for the first time in 10 years, as he was blocked from being able to get to his plane.

Yes but he paid $30k for his commercial flight so he could have his own "in flight suite". So it was probably better than flying on the gulf stream.

Ow, really? I did not know that - seems you're right there. However, the reason seems to be he didn't want the layover (see golf.com). But even then, I guess he flies royal class. Doesn't really compare to anything I'm used to ;).

Just happened to catch this while reading a Tom Brady tribute in the NYT today.

And just maybe, when things go wrong for people like that, as they did for Brady and the Patriots for a good part of Sunday night, maybe that is why there is never a shortage of schadenfreude.

Brady likely sensed some of that on Sunday night. Did he deserve it? Maybe. He’s not Woods or Armstrong or Rose or Bonds. But outside New England, he has become a villain, nonetheless.

So even a so-called respectable publication like the NYT is lumping Tiger in with three of the most notorious sports cheaters in history. I'm not really a Tiger worshipper anymore but man I'd like to corner the little nerd who wrote this and ask for an explanation. I understand that Woods is vilified by some and that is probably the implication of that particular grouping, but I really wonder if there does exist among laypeople a perception that Tiger Woods is somehow a cheater at golf.

If so, racism. In any case the people do continue to act as if Tiger Woods somehow stands alone among athletes/celebrities/humans as a philanderer. Which again probably boils down to racism. That said, I put some of the blame on Tiger himself, the way he handled himself after the scandal, specifically the public apology. Never should've done that IMO.

The PGA tour is notorious for not announcing results of testing.

So there is a pretty big contingent of people who believe he has used steroids. To be fair there is a pretty sizable (all be it circumstantial) amount of evidence against him.
1) His doctor got caught at boarder with PED's
2) Use to associate with Barry Bond's doctor who gave Bonds PEDs
3) His body is falling apart like someone who heavily used PED's and has quit

Now do steroids actually help improve performance for golfers? I'm not sure. But if it is banned it would still be considered "cheating."

Seriously though, I wasn't aware of that. Doug Barron, Vijay, Scott Stallings... three names off the top of of my head that got busted. Wonder who decides what's made public and what's not.

I'm pretty sure all of them made it public and not the tour. Vijay and Scott both made public statements about accidentally using PED's. The PGA tour did not make the statement.
