Yea, I saw a little article where Ms. Wie decided to scrap the back torture method. She talked about changing putting grips/strokes like one would change a hat or belt. "Hmmm, that one is too je ne sais quoi. I think I will try the Mickelson "claw" because it is sooooo cute."

Please. To me it's quite obvious that Ms. Wie and her parents have smoothed things over--for the time being. The bendover was obviously an act of teenage rebellion. Yes I know she is 27, don't stop me once I get going. She was like "I am going to do whatever I want!" Dad is like, "You know the kind of men that follow you around the course! I don't want you bending over like that showing everybody everything." "I don't care, you can't stop me!"

Oh man par 73. I just saw that she was -3. That is what I get for not doing all of my research. Oh well, I have the same level of fact checking as CNN, MSN, and FOX.

What the hell happened. BK, you started this thread, you gotta face the music. 76-75 on the weekend?!? The media reported that Michelley was back in 2017 with new clubs, a new putting mode, a fresh new in-your-face attitude, etc etc blah blah blah, ready to kick ass and take names etc etc. I'm getting that feeling again that I am being LIED TO.

Well, holy shit! Michelle is atop the leaderboard after round one. Is that even possible?
And my girl Paula is in 7th!

Guess that's why these tournaments are 4 rounds.

Don't call me a liar, you're the liar. Perpetuating this fake news about Wie being in the lead.

"It's a marathon this week, it's not a sprint," Wie said. "But I have to say I'm very proud of where I've positioned myself today."

Michelle is a very very special snowflake. :lolz Actually you can decipher quite a bit of subtext from this seemingly off-hand remark. First of all nobody's saying it's a sprint, and most people who follow pro tournament golf understand that perfectly. But I guess by saying it out loud, Michelle is reminding herself more than anyone to not get too excited about shooting one good round. Then in the next sentence, and this is pretty fascinating, she gives herself a huge pat on the back for it. I don't have the energy to back this up with research, but when does any legit pro ever say they're "very proud" of themselves for sitting at the top of the first round leaderboard.

Spot on observation. I think most pros follow the old truism, "You can't win the tournament the first day but you can lose it."

Michelle, we are proud of you, too. That is two times in the 60's since July, 2016. Now go out there are have another good round. You can go shopping Monday.

Oh my goodness, bogey free round of 69.

The sky is falling.

Leicester city wins the premier league
The UK leaves the EU
Trump elected
Wie has back to back rounds in the 60's

I believe Nostradamus warned us about these troubling times.

Well, now she gets to re-experience "moving day." The pressure is on now; does she push forward or flounder? If she can stay within 1-2 shots of the lead after day 3, then she has a right to be a little bit proud.

Since Lexi (one of my picks to win) is stinking up the joint after yesterday's round and So Yeon Ryo, my other pick for the week, is still mired back in the pack, I may be rooting for Michele if she can stay in it. And, of course, my sweetheart, Paula, who is making a strong showing. However, if Lexi and So Yeon can get into the mix over the weekend, Wie can crash and burn for all I care. It will be tough for me to root against Paula, but winning the LG weekly picks is my focus. Don't worry Paula, I will still love you either way.

Wait, what?!!!??!! A third round 67 for a third straight round in the 60s and a two shot lead going into the final round. Must be a sign of the apocalypse.

What can I say, I am stunned. I wonder if this new found focus is related to Nike leaving the golf business (and Ms. Wie's sponsorship). She has a posse of very good players behind her so she can't falter.

I think it's important to ask ourselves why we are still so ga-ga over this particular player. I just read through this thread including Srog's anecdote and I can't help but to wonder why, in spite of a lousy, self-entitled, hopelessly self-centered personality, everyone (maybe not on this board, but on others) is like "Yay, I'm so happy for her, I hope she wins", then they start with the pontificating on the significance of a potential win and how it will improve the world and whatever. It's like clockwork. In the grand scheme of things it is a trivial matter, but honestly it makes me a little sick. Oh well. Everyone say it with me. "President Wie". Hey, why the fuck not.

I know, but when I say "we" I meant like, the collective consciousness of all golf fans. Believe me, there are still many a people out there parroting the same platitudes about Michelle Wie from like, 2003. Still believing that she is somehow the rightful and deserving queen of golf, she's just had some, you know, bad breaks.

Well, our young gal somewhat face planted. Even par is not terrible but it won't get the job done when the lead is only 2 and one is being chased by some very good players.

On the bright side, one of my LPGA picks was Inbee. :yess

Dude, that post reads like you just took a megadose of Zoloft. I find this chipper attitude in the wake of such a poor showing (that included a crushing four-putt at a crucial juncture) highly inappropriate. But if you are zonked out on the meds right now I guess it's understandable.
