So I like the team format that they are using for the Zurich Open. I think new things need to be tried to liven up the PGA tour.

What I don't like is how some of the power teams were formed. It smacks of Lebron James going to Miami to play with the best players and win a championship - let's get the good guys on one team and beat everyone else and say how we good we are. Teams should have been somewhat random - that's how life works. Or better yet, play with handicaps based upon world rankings. Hoping a pair of unknowns really shock the power teams.

Only thing you need to apologize for is not ranting more. Regarding the power teams, I'm not seeing that many, and they're not doing well anyways. Over the hill KJ Choi and a literally retired Charlie Wi are holding their own. Screw em all.

First time in 22 years the PGA Tour applied a penalty for slow play. Does this prove that slow play is not a problem on the Tour? Or that the Tour has a slow play policy that sucks?

More evidence that PGA Tour product is circling the drain.

The Byron Nelson

Interesting leader board part way through the 3rd round. My guy Hahn is showing some talent, besides on the dance floor.

I just saw Jamie Sadlowski is playing this week. He hit dr 7i into a 622 yard par 5 and put it on the front edge. Yes it was playing 1 club down wind, but pulling 7i when you are 254 yards out? WTF is that.

But the USGA and R&A don't think the ball is going too far.

He does make DJ and Rory look like short hitters with his driver.
I will stand in the fairway, I want to be out of your range.

+10 and going home for the weekend. Drive for show, hit accurate approach shots for dough.

Me too. I think it's his lack of external emotion out there no matter how good or bad he hits a shot. He just sort of trudges along doing his thing, his way, not fazed by anyone or anything around him (including big name PGA stars) playing alongside him. He doesn't fit the mold of today's top players, visually or otherwise, yet, he quietly plays in stride with them.

His divorce seemed to take some of the wind out of his sails for awhile, but he seems like his game is coming back now that some of his beer gut is too.

Phil claims he is missing the US Open to attend his kid's high school graduation. I know that if my dad was one measly US Open away from the career grand slam--something only Jack, Tiger, Hogan and Player have done--I wouldn't let him come to the graduation. I'd be like 'Go play the US Open, please, this is a huge opportunity to join a super elite group of all-time great golfers. God you're so annoying!' But that's just me, I am a fan of great golf. I guess Phil's kid isn't, and that's okay too.

Yup, good point, but I'm with the Beefster on that one. What the hell are you doing, Phil? You think you have next year covered? Well, look at that other great golfer found recently on the side of the road with pain meds in his system after a 4th back operation in as many years (or close?) ... There is no guarantee that there is a tomorrow, even in golf!
I'm gonna go low this time...

Currently t5 at the St Jude is Peter Malnati. Interesting since I once played with a college teammate of his. He said that Peter wasn't necessarily a standout back then. I asked what he thought it was that made Peter able to succeed at the pro level and he said that the Peter he remembers always had a positive attitude.

Phil Mickelson will play in the 2017 United States Open. That's my prediction. I am wrong pretty much all the time, but this one I feel strongly about. You're all being played for fools. Phil will play, and it will be the feelgoodaboutgolf story of the year. For everyone except this guy that is.

Watching the Barbasol this afternoon on a course I play every few months about an hour from my house. Interesting to see how different it looks on TV as opposed to playing it. Jatturia, we need to make it back there (This is the course we did not get to play last time.).

Bernhard Langer represents everything that's wrong with the so called Champions Tour.

Admittedly, I don't really follow the Champions tour much at all. Is your comment something to do with his putting style, skirting close to the anchoring rule? Or you just hate the Krauts?

Full disclosure: I think the anchoring ban was about the lamest thing ever, so if he's skirting close to the rule, but not breaking it, more power to him.
