Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread
Wow, it doesn't take a whole lot to stand out in the world of pro golf but wow, this guy really stands out.

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread
He was only 3 shots off making it into the field of The Open.
In the Singapore open the top 4 finishers not already qualified for The Open got a spot (assuming they also finished top 12). He would have locked up the last spot with a 68 on Sunday instead he followed 3 straight 69s with a 71.
I really hope he does well at AT&T and gets another sponsors invite. That swing is something else.

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread
Wow, I watched the video and at first I thought someone had followed me around last summer. Then I noticed the player was Asian and I realized it wasn't me. Still, like looking in a mirror swing-wise (at least the driver swings and not the results).

LOL BK
Its nice to see something a little different, someone who leans with their shots to will it in.

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread
There are likely millions out there who end up on their back foot who should actually try to swing like Choi. They'd probably get better results than they do slicing the ball.
Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread
My thoughts exactly, and not just ending on the back foot, but starting the swing leaning towards the target and transferring the weight to the back foot during the through swing!

This guy is just a slight exaggeration (emphasis on slight) of the Gary Palmer walk-through finish, by the way.

I'm gonna go low this time...

PGA TOUR season begins in earnest today. Oh Jesus, don't give me that. I know it officially started a while ago. I just don't give a crap about Matt Kuchar and co.

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread
Adam Scott appears to be using the no-pull-out method on every single putt.

El Tigré played pretty well. Swing looked good. I didn't play golf myself today, as I had hoped, so I watched El Tigré on TV here all day.

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread
From my casual observation players are sometimes using the no-pull-out method. Usually on long putts. But sometimes on short-medium ones too. There is no set formula it seems. Scott is doing it a lot. I would expect more of the bad putters like him to do so.
Can't believe there isn't more talk about this. Is anybody watching? If nothing else the visual impact alone is huge. Golf looks different as of January 1 2019. I think it looks slightly better, on TV at least. I am certainly practicing the no-pull-out method when I play. Verdict, it's a good change! Good on the powers that be. Maybe changing the rules time to time is not so bad after all.

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread
Faldo has been insisting that flag-in is a considerable, undeniable advantage. He's even calling for asterisks in the records books for any post 2019 scoring records. I wonder what putting will look like by the end of the year. I am guessing a lot more flags.

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread
There was a guy watching the Euro tour event that had a hissy fit when he saw Poulter tap in for bogey with the stick in. He promptly got roasted for ot knowing the new rule, despite all of the coverage it had been getting. Then to top it off, he was reminded that as of the beginning of last year, offsite people and people not on the rules committee could call/tweet in rules violations.
I will stand in the fairway, I want to be out of your range.

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread
I played recently with a regular group and none of them are on the stick in bandwagon. I think they're so used to pulling it that it's ingrained.
Aside from one hole, where I was furthest away on the green and told them to leave it, I mostly forgot about it too. I'm thinking that it's gonna gain the most traction with pros and better/more serious players.

My group has basically been playing with in, unless the shadow of the flag is flappin in our line.

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread
The guys I played with today kept pulling it out of habit, kinda liked it with it in... to the point where being out threw me

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread
Good stuff from Woods, sticking it out even after a lackluster first 9 to grind out a T-20 with some very solid and well balanced golf T to green. Excited for Riviera, where apparently he'll be a fixture with the El Tigré Woods Foundation being part of the tourney. I was inches from volunteering at the tourney this year, but held off due to time off changes with new company. Will be there on Sat (hopefully Woods makes the cut).
I'll submit my volunteer application in Sep for the 2020 Genesis open.

Yes, nice to see El Tigré play well on Sunday. I believe Riviera is one of the few courses on which El Tigré has played and never won. Maybe El Tigré 4.1 will be up to the task.Duke of Hazards wrote: ↑Sun Jan 27, 2019 11:11 pmGood stuff from Woods, sticking it out even after a lackluster first 9 to grind out a T-20 with some very solid and well balanced golf T to green. I thought about Volunteering, but being gone over Valentines day didn't seem right.
Maybe next year.

In other news, Gary Player's son sounds like a real colossal fucking douchebag.

Yes, his interview confirmed he is a flimflam man. I wonder how Gary Player could stand by and let one of his kids become a joke.

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread
On the bright side maybe this will shut old Gary up for a couple minutes. And even if it doesn't, the world of golf don't have to sit back anymore and take all of his dopey lecturing. Now people can just say, "Shut up old man, how'd that advice work out for YOUR BOY, WAYNE?"
