Golf Apps

Post by GBOGEY » Thu Jan 12, 2017 12:19 pm

So I am getting my first Iphone next week. Long story, but my company has been on Windows phones and Blackberries. What golf aps does everyone recommend from GPS to anything golf related?

Hey, welcome to 2012! I sort of feel like the moment of the App has passed. Nevertheless! I looked at my phone to see if there's anything golf-related there. I used to sometimes use "Skydroid" for GPS rangefinding, before I switched to laser. Still, GPS is useful for mapping unfamiliar courses and that's a decent free app.

18 birdies app is interesting if you got any money games going on.
I will stand in the fairway, I want to be out of your range.

I am using Skycaddie for auto uploading to sky golf.
I was recommended in another thread to use GolfPad, it looks really slick, nice UI.

It is G. I think I've only found one course that they didn't have, I sent them an email and they had it sorted within a week.
Throw me another ball will ya!

I don't really use the on-course apps because the battery drains so quickly.

But can I ask - what cool swing analysis apps are there (if any?)
I'm gonna hit a provisional
HCP Index :facepalm

My golf app on the course is still a pencil. I then transfer it all to SG360. But, I am pretty illustrative and detailed on my scorecard. In fact there is never anyone else's score on MY scorecard. If I am playing with others, though my score may go on the group's scorecard, I keep this one separately. I have a shorthand system which requires the use of the whole scorecard. See attached sample. I'd be happy to elaborate should anyone be interested in what it all means. For me, it is much easier than having to input everything into an app as I move along the course. And battery drain is never an issue. ;)

I did something similar when I didn't know what app to use after being away for a while and had no apps on my new phone.
I also have battery packs that I can plug my phone into, if i needed it... so its not a big deal there.

Looks like the Arccos system came away with Best in Show related to game analyzer options at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando last month, at least according to MyGolfSpy.

GoldPad. Simple, quick, and not too bad on the battery
Golf is too hard. Stupid golf.

I may need to look into one of those "Smart phone" thingees. I seem to be missing out, judging by how many people I see with their phones in their face, working away with the thumbs.
