Re: 2018 LPGA thread
I guess it's somewhat fair. After all KPMG did make a big stink about continuing to pay Stacy. Silly me for assuming there were no strings attached.

Re: 2018 LPGA thread
My favorite part of this so-called tournament is when they drag out Mickelson's ass and put him in some commercials where they use green screen technology to make it look like he actually gives a shit about women's golf, or knows who Stacy Lewis is.

As opposed to Dawn Coe-Jones who finished 7th in the US Open while 6 months pregnant.

I will stand in the fairway, I want to be out of your range.

Actually, I've seen Phil play golf with Stacey a few times and did some KPMG commercials with her a few years back. So, I'm guessing he knows her.legitimatebeef wrote: ↑Thu Jun 28, 2018 2:26 pmMy favorite part of this so-called tournament is when they drag out Mickelson's ass and put him in some commercials where they use green screen technology to make it look like he actually gives a shit about women's golf, or knows who Stacy Lewis is.

Was kind of half-watching the coverage, and noticed that KPMG is running at least one commercial containing the phrase:
"At KPMG, we believe that..."

Anybody watching today? 31 under par (so far) is just freaking insane! Even when the top 30+ players are -13 or better... One more and she'll average 8 under par, per day, over 4 days! And "she" is someone I have never heard of: unreal...
ETA: She didn't get any deeper than -31, but no matter, it is awesome!

I'm gonna go low this time...

I watched, and enjoyed it too even though the result was N.I.D. (never in doubt, that's tennis-fan lingo). I followed Sei Young Kim in person for two rounds at the 2015 KPMGWPGAC, been a fan ever since. She hits it good for a chick. Her swing used to look kind of sloppy but not yesterday. She was pounding big drives down the middle, but also hitting some nice smooth wedges. I am inspired.

Thidapa Suwannapura, WORTHINGTON MANOR regular, WINS the LPGA Marathon Classic in a playoff over Brittney Lincicome! So proud of her, even though she has held me up on the course once or twice playing in the group ahead. I guess I can cut her some slack now.
She has now qualified for the Women's British Open in a few weeks.

At least when people hold you up on the course, they are working towards something significant. That don't happen around here, like ever.

That is pretty cool. I bet you could take her down, Doug. You should play her for $100 a hole.DougE wrote: ↑Sun Jul 15, 2018 5:34 pmThidapa Suwannapura, WORTHINGTON MANOR regular, WINS the LPGA Marathon Classic in a playoff over Brittney Lincicome! Re: 2018 LPGA thread
Big week for golf on TV next week. Women's British Open in the morning, WGC El Tigré Bridgestone Invitational in the afternoon.
I don't usually make predictions but I based on this week's LPGA action, Ariya is your winner. She is playing very excellent golf head and shoulders above the rest. I am loving it, I think her swing is awesome.

Re: 2018 LPGA thread
Record-setting TV coverage for this Weetabix Ricoh Women's British Open, something like 28 hours total coverage.
Sucks that this so-called major championship has a lame title sponsor, that makes like office appliances or some shit, and also sucks that those crusty old pricks at the R&A won't let them call it the Women's Open Championship, so instead they have to use "British Open" which to me has always sounded so stupid and American and ignorant. Couple weeks ago at Carnoustie and they were interview Matt Kuchar and he was like "Golly, it's just such an honor to be here at the British Open."

Ariya is always my favorite. I have been picking her to win nearly every time she plays since early last season. It's because of her that our LG Fantasy Golf league fell apart last year. I won too much with her in my picks!legitimatebeef wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 7:52 pm

Re: 2018 LPGA thread
I am pretty high on that kid too. Her swing is so sound and she pounds it. I feel that she and Sung Hyun Park are actually advancing the women's game more than those wonderful leading lights like Michelle and Paula and Natalie Gulbis and whoever else is leading the American women's golf charge at the moment. Because they are advancing the way the game is actually played. They are raising the bar for girls and women who golf.DougE wrote: ↑Tue Jul 31, 2018 9:44 amAriya is always my favorite. Ariya had a rough start, but made a nice move up in the 2nd round. I'm counting on her to be in the mix by Sunday.

Re: 2018 LPGA thread
So the tournament is being played a few miles from Liverpool, and on the telecast they did a little historical Beatles segment. Then the Golf channel on-air people had a little conversation about it, asking everyone if they were into the Beatles and the replies were all like, "Eh, I wasn' really a fan."
Listen, not saying everyone has to love the Beatles. But I can tell by people's reaction whether they are dead inside or not. These Golf channel people are not just dead, their insides are made of dust.

Re: 2018 LPGA thread
I was a big fan during their early years. She Loves You, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, All My Loving, etc. Loved those and the rest on the early albums. Loved their first two movies too, A Hard Days Night and Help. Sometime around Sgt. Pepper and Ravi Shankar, I wasn't as much into them. They got a little too 'out there' for me. I may have grown up in the 60s and 70s, but I was never a hippie.
Re: 2018 LPGA thread
My Worthington Manor regular, and LPGA girl, Thidapa, made the cut and is showing some game. Sitting at T31, 1 under after the first two rounds of the Women's British Open. Ariya, Moriya, Thidapa and Pornanong Phatlum (who is presently holding the 36 hole lead), are all from Thailand. Pretty impressive for that little country, and giving the Koreans a run for their money in ladies golf lately. Unfortunately, also killing the American girls too.
Re: 2018 LPGA thread
Thidapa, hanging tough. She's in 8th now. 6 under for the tourny with 3 holes to play today. 7 birdies so far in the round. You go girl.
