While jFish is having his premonition about the real El Tigré Woods, I am having a similar prediction, about the El Tigré Woods of Korean women's professional golf, Sung Hyun Park. I think she takes it tomorrow.

She's used to tougher greens, like she plays at Worthington!legitimatebeef wrote: ↑Sun Aug 05, 2018 12:29 pmI spoke too soon. Thidapa just um, two-putted from 2'. Live on NBC for the whole entire world to see.![]()

Thidapa continues to ride a wave of good play. Ch-ching. If this keeps up for the rest of the season, she should upgrade her club membership!

Re: 2018 LPGA thread
Primetime LPGA is back motherfuckers and it's back early, and it's coming to your TV in a big fuckin way, with whopping coverage, 25 hours in total. The UL International Crown is that four-woman team comp pitting the top eight women's golfing nations in the world against each other. (UL as you probably know, is that mysterious little sticker affixed to just about anything you buy that plugs into an electric socket.) Interestingly they been hawking this event on the so-called Golf Channel as the no holds barred alternative to the Ryder Cup.
No captains

No... excuses!
I thought that was a funny jab. It is a stark contrast when you think about it, just four women alone fending for themselves, in some faraway foreign country. Then you look at the Ryder Cup and what happens every time players suffer tough losses: the sheer amount of consoling and coddling and shoulder massaging that ensues, from teammates, captain, co-captains, vice-captains, assistant vice captains, wives, former star athletes from other sports, other golfers who didn't make the team but are just hanging around to give moral support etc. Downright comical. A shit show is what it is let's face it.
I find it hard to say in general, who is tougher, between men and women. There are plenty of arguments to be made for both. Child-bearing alone puts women through an ordeal the likes of which very very few if any men could even begin to understand. And because of it, women understand the value and the cost of life in a way that men never will, and that seems like a major weakness.
Anyways I digress. You fuckers gonna watch this thing or what. Here is the schedule in any case (ET)

I'll catch some live, before my bedtime. The rest, well, I guess I'll just have to watch the replay next day and not look at the internet for results beforehand.

Re: 2018 LPGA thread
Word on the street is that this is shaping up to be the biggest golf event in the history of South Korea, and that is saying something since they have previously hosted LPGA, PGA Tour, and Presidents Cups events. For that alone I am curious to check out the scene.
All you Ryder Cup zealots ought to tune in so you can see some adult golfers engaging in team play without carrying on like complete assholes and whiny little infantile shits. That's right, shots fired, motherfucker.

Re: 2018 LPGA thread
Weather is putting a damper on the whole thing from start to finish I think. Course and weather conditions contributed to some uninspired play all around. Commentators criticized the tournament for tucking the pins, making the course play unduly hard. They are probably right. The only real highlight here is hearing the big crowds, of mostly female fans, screaming their heads off for their idols, Sung Hyun Park in particular. She is a bona fide cult superstar. I even saw a glimpse of it first hand at the USWO a year ago, and that was in rural New Jersey. I suspect that she is a kind of LGBT icon in Korea. Yeah, I know that she has not come out or anything but that is what my gaydar is reading ok.

Re: 2018 LPGA thread
I was a little surprised by the composition of the US team. Michelle Wie and Christie Kerr are 29th and 46th on the current money list yet they were still among the top four World Golf ranked US players. Nine US ladies have won more money than Ms. Wie this year and 17 are ahead of Ms. Kerr. Our Wiesy actually won this year but Kerr has just 2 top tens out of 20 tournaments.
Admittedly, no team was going to be able to compete with the Korean powerhouse. Heck, Korea could have had two teams.

Re: 2018 LPGA thread
I ordered a new television set yesterday, following a couple days of intense deliberation. It was only ever a question of LG or Samsung. I leaned towards Samsung mostly, same brand I been using for the past seven years. Then I went to Bestbuy and had a look at both screens, they both looked similarly good. Samsung despite the higher price lacks bluetooth. But LG has it. LG also sponsors two people I like: Sung Hyun Park and In Gee Chun of the LPGA. Hmm. Perhaps LG the new fresh wave of the future, not unlike these two successful young ladies. What cool golfers does Samsung sponsor? I thought to myself. Maybe they do, but I could not think of any. That settled it. The LG is on its way. What is the point of this post. That corporate advertising in sports works, or something.

Re: 2018 LPGA thread
Season's finale this weekend, the CME Group Tour Championship. The LPGA sort of has this right with the end of the season occurring close to the end of the year. A lot of relatively well-known players are not playing in the CME after failing to accumulate enough points. Gaby López punched her ticket this weekend. She is an unknown to me but after looking her stats up, she has been in the money quite a bit.

Re: 2018 LPGA thread
There are two days left for the current leaders to gag and drop down the leader board. Still, it is interesting how the top 10 is filled with ladies from the USA. Maybe home cooking and McDonalds is the answer. The ladies from the USA were largely absent from the top during the Asian swing.
I am beginning to sound like that goofball who constantly wrote about the LPGA.
