I'm trying to figure out my price here, what it would take for me to attend this local PGA Tour event. It's easily a three digit figure. Fuck this shit. The PGA Tour product, minus 5-time Masters Champion Tiger Woods, looks really anemic right about now. There's one reliably great player in Koepka, and nobody really even likes him. That's kind of sad, but on the other hand he is a total dud nothing personality. The rest, you just never know. Players seem checked out. Rory is definitely checked out. Jordan is still mentally there, but can't seem to find a golf game. Slow play controversy continues to drag everyone down. I say it's a weak era.

"To that end, DeChambeau said he had a member of his management team time all of his shots on Sunday.

"On average, my shots into the green and off the tee around 30 seconds,'' he said. That's 10 seconds under, you know. And if you go to the putting green, let's say it takes 50 seconds, that equals out and you're approximately on time.''"

You know what this statement of Bryson says to me. Either...
1) you averaged more than 40 seconds per shot
2) you are full of shit and didn't have people timing you

To have very quantifiable metrics of "I averaged 30 seconds tee to green.". Then go into very vague statement of "And if you go to the putting green, let's say it takes 50 seconds, that equals out and you're approximately on time.''. This tells me something isn't adding up. Seems like I'm being lied to. Do you have a quantifiable metrics or not? If yes why the ambiguity on the 2nd statement. Did you intentionally ask people to only time certain shots because you knew that is where you'd be quicker?

I smell a massive shit somewhere around here.
Keep it short stupid.

I'm going to go to a pga tour event dressed as the shredder with a sign that says "I hate turtles" then follow around Bryson, cantlay, and jb Holmes.

I am with you, @jasonfish11. Just think about the putting times. If he averages 50 seconds, that means the 10 seconds to tap in gives him a minute and a half for the first putt. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Just the methodology of timing is an issue. When did his management team start the clock? When he arrives at the ball? When his caddie arrives (Bryson has jogged/run to his ball in the past)? If one is the last one to play in a threesome, 30 seconds is a huge amount of time. One has had a chance to check the yardage, wind, lie while the other two players have played. Add another 30 seconds and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

As you pointed out, his discussion stayed away from real numbers ("around 30 seconds", "let's say it takes 50 seconds") and he seemed to glide over near the green by saying "shots into the green and off the tee". When he missed the green, what were his times?

At least a precedent has now been set. He is not going to be able to take inordinate amounts of time without someone outing him on instagram or twitter. The spotlight is on him.
Let's Play 36
GHIN Handicap: 7.8 … 9.2 … Let’s just say I am around a 14!

The other issue I have is he seems happy that he can "average" 40 seconds. Apparently for how smart he is he can't read the rule book because it doesn't say "on average..."
