DeChambeau being Maga is quite apt. He has a very natural and politician vibe. All toothy smiles on the surface but obvious menace lurking underneath. Like, we all thought that Mickelson was over the top smarmy in his time. But really he was just like, an early draft of what was to come.

Crazy how Rory is in the lead, hitting it pretty unbelievable this week, and probably the best golfer of this generation and yet not a single person expects him to win tomorrow. That's fucked up man. I don't claim to know what he is going to do but I sure hope he wins. Fuck everyone!
Unreal. Even the headline on espn.com was like,
"RORY LEADS MASTERS...BUT BRYSON ONLY 2 BACK"
"Leads... but"?! Don't recall ever seeing anyone in any sport get this kind of bitch ass treatment. I guess that is the world now. In which impartiality is a form of weakness or something. Gotta editorialize and add snark to every little shit that comes out their ass.

I will watch the dang thing but no longer interested in all the app-based, live-stream-multi-cast stuff. Just let me tune the TV to channel 2 on Sunday afternoon and fall asleep on the couch to Jim Nance.
I stuck with my throwback style and avoided any kind of extra, post or pre coverage, "Featured Group", "Masters on the Range", all that shit. Come Sunday afternoon, I am pretty darned excited to finally get into the action! Turns out those old heads were right when they used to claim that limited coverage of the Masters actually made the thing more special.
Or maybe there is just a limit to how much tube you can watch before you start to tire. Anyways, no more wall-to-wall balls to the wall coverage for this guy.

Oh boy this subforum has no pulse at all. Anyways, after some consideration I am ready to call that some of the greatest golf on TV ever. The 2025 Masters joins the 2008 U.S. Open and that cursed 2009 Open Championship on my podium. I guess that is why we all still attempt to watch sports on TV. The potential for unparalleled drama. Even at it's best, scripted drama just cannot compare.
I am glad to see Rory growing into an all-time legend. He is not like Nicklaus or Tiger but maybe he is like a Ben Hogan of our time. A swing master who wins frequently thanks to a superior swing but maybe does not necessarily love putting or even tournament competition all that much. My appreciation has definitely grown to this point. Although I did marvel when he first started winning, in like 2008, as a teenager. His swing has always been awesome and yet it has evolved over the years. In addition to the godlike talent, you also see the hard work and refinement. What really impressed me last Sunday was the approach shots from the trees and pine straw. Stepping into these risky shots, he just looked ultra focused. That's when I said he was channelling Tiger--super high stakes but he also seemed to be in the moment and really enjoying it. Too bad he could not muster that kind of resolve on the greens though. But then again if he could, he'd be Jack or Tiger.

This years Masters was pretty enjoyable. In my mind Rory is the most interesting player on tour. The good old days are over. Tiger, Phil, VJ, Goosen. The current crop doesn’t move the needle. Spieth is lost. Scotty is so boring. Fowler is a tragedy. LIV has been a thorn in the side since its inception. Oh well, maybe Rory can go on a MAJOR run.

Damnit, the US Womans Open qualifying is coming back to my course in two weeks. I watched some last year but I think I will skip this year. It would take a very special someone to get me out there. But who could fit that bill. Michelle Wie maybe. I might could show up for that type of celebrity clown show. Social media star Lily "Muni" He came last year and she is like the hottest woman to ever hold an LPGA card. Hard to top or even match that. How about this, I will go if the range is still open to plebes. Otherwise who cares. I got my own problems to fry. Yeah they are great at golf and everything but on the other hand these are marginal and/or washed up players, none of whom will go on to win the actual USWO. Not to disparage any woman by the way. I celebrate them all. Simply trying to justify saying No Thanks to some pro-caliber golf competition free of charge at my local course. By the way nobody celebrates woman golfers like I do.

I had a lot of fun back in the day watching the Women's US Amateur locally as well as the LPGA's future's tour (Epson now, Duramed when I watched them). You should go.
