38/44 82 from the blues (6500) at Windmill Lakes yesterday. Fell apart a little bit on the back but I still hit some quality shots.

Next week it's Victoria National and it's 5,000,000 gallons of water.

I was playing by myself, so unofficial round and I won't go into all the details, but first four holes need mentioning as one of those "can this really happen in golf."

#1: Over top tee shot, some how rolls down the fairway, stops 100 yards from the pin. Thin wedge catches back of green. Unfortunately the pin was in the front, about 75 feet away. Lousy birdie putt, even from 75 feet, ends up 25 feet from hole with a quick downhill putt. Somehow my par putt is perfectly on line but six inches short, bogey.
#2 Par 5 - Another over the top tee shot, followed by a topped iron that rolls 80 yards down the fairway. Now have 150 yards, stiff an 8i to 3 feet, make the putt for birdie.
#3 - Another over the top drive but decent distance ends up in short rough. Shank, then another shank, followed by a punch out, a chip to 10 feet, then made the putt for DB.
#4 - Another over the top drive but again with distance into short sought. 9i to two feet, birdie.

So four holes, only two good shots and one putt, but somehow only one over par.

I had a lesson about two weeks ago and figured out that I probably haven't been setting up properly. The two times I've played since then were both pretty decent, although one round was solo / unofficial. So I decided to restart my season: I was going to put the first 18 rounds of the year aside and pretend that they didn't happen, restart my stats, etc.

After today's round, I'm now putting the first 19 rounds aside - everything was left - drives, irons, chips, putts. Awful 86. Only bright spot was on #18 which is a very hard hole and had the pin in the back. I blasted my drive left into the fairway on #1, but hit a beauty 7i over the trees separating the holes to 15 feet. Nice putt, dead decent, somehow bounced out.

So my restart was successful - 78/6.1. I’m now averaging 78/6.1 since the restart. Don’t know what happened yesterday, today was totally different. I also played better in the wind, which has been a problem, at least until the last two holes where two shots floated too high and were pushed right. The upside is that even with my best round since February, it clearly could have been better. I hit 9 greens, but 5 of the first six misses were set up by bad tee shots. Next practice session is set.

Good to hear that @GBOGEY is back to good ball striking and scoring. Not so much for me. I took a trip down to SE Ohio to play a couple rounds with a group from "The Sand Trap." Day 1 was Eagle Sticks. I scored well (77) and won a few bucks. Next day was Virtures GC (formerly Longaberger Golf Club). Not so good scoring as the course was too long (87) but I did birdie three holes and won some money.

When one thinks of Ohio, typically one imagines an endless perfectly flat field of corn. SE Ohio is very hilly and so were the courses.

Finally, the Longaberger saga is interesting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Longaberger_Company Check out the "Basket Building." I had to drive by it a couple of times. It is vacant but for sale if anyone wants to speculate in basket building real estate.

This weekend had the really bad and the really good.

Saturday 1 for 9 - nine really good drives in the fairway led to one GIR. Incredibly I had seven GIRs, hit three par 3's, so basically I was really good except from the fairway with a wedge or short iron in my hand. Driving was really good until two blown way right late in the round, 85/12.1.

Sunday was the opposite. Pretty steady throughout, 78/6.3. Only negative was that I continue to struggle with par 5 scoring with two bogeys, but pleased with most everything else.

Round 4 since the reset today - starting to feel better about my game - 82, even though my swing wasn't quite right and the wind was absolutely howling. +7 on the front 9 into the wind, +3 on the back, I was typically 2-3 clubs longer to the green on the front. My putting was off - cost me 3-4 strokes and I made my first sand boo boo since the reset. If those were normal it would have been a good round even with the swing being a little off and the wind. Of course, tomorrow the USGA will burst my bubble and probable access a negative PCC adjustment again.

An unsatisfying "79" yesterday. Perfect weather. Played a shorter set of tees. Lots of birdie putts and made only one. Failed 5 of 6 times to get up & down when I missed the green and tossed in three 3-putts. What coulda been! Sigh.

Continuing to have mixed results since the reset. Yesterday 84/11.0 - the score makes it sound better than it was as I knew from the range that it was going to be a rough day. Just didn't seem to have it, only two solid irons all day. One of those I wasn't hitting the ball solid enough to incur penalties so the score wasn't so bad.

Today was very different - played great early and was +1 through 8. Pushed my drive right on #9, decided to take my medicine and hit a shot to the middle of the fairway 60 yards from the flag to take my bogey. Totally bladed the wedge OB, then dropped a ball, hit the replay to two feet - DB. Then pulled one into the hazard on #10, still made a bogey, and pulled another on #13 for another bogey. I was +6/15 holes when the horn sounded for lightning nearby, so I finished with a 7.2 differential. Take away 3-4 bad shots, or at least not make them quite so bad, it was a good round.

Since the reset averaging 81/8.7 - in range where I want to be but a shot higher on average.
