Higher Launch Angle for 2030 Reduced Distance Balls??

The USGA/R&A have announced a new formula for measuring the distance a golf ball may go (aka as "The Rollback). The proposed reduction will have a minimal effect on my 83-mph driver swing. If I am still playing in 2030, it might be helpful if I work on hitting the driver higher. That should help us slow swingers minimize the effects of the proposed "dead" ball. Who knows, if I work at it now, I may be carrying a solid driver hit 200 yards when I am 78. ;)

Of more concern is the statement by the USGA/R&A that they plan to look at drivers (or 1-woods for LB) and their ability to get more distance and forgiveness. Might they take away my 460 cc driver clubhead?? :o  :x

I still say none of this will affect us amateurs. Besides it’s years down the road and too much inventory out there. Look at all the new and used equipment all over the web and in stock.

I believe, probably incorrectly, that the USGA/R&A know some secret science and this is going to impact big fast swinging people and not us normal people, or if it does, it will impact us so little that we won't notice. I'll be 66 in 2030, so I can move up a tee and blame the ball change and whatever else instead of getting older.

You’re probably right. I’ll be 75 in 2030 and won’t care much which tees I’ll play :x

Exactly, if the two of us are still able to play in 2030, distance won't be our most pressing issue. Getting our walker out of the golf cart will be the big problem. :D
