Re: Live music--what is it good for?
I looked at tickets for an upcoming Michael Bublé concert in Detroit (Little Caesar's Arena - the hockey arena). Sitting in the rafters was $200 a ticket. Main floor in the back $500. Top end tickets were $1,500+.
Wait a second ... we are talking about Michael Bublé, not somebody that the 15-50 year old demographic want to listen to and see.
So I made my decision on the concert

Let's Play 36
GHIN Handicap: 7.8 … 9.2 … Let’s just say I am around a 14!

Re: Live music--what is it good for?
I wonder what the kiss farewell tour will cost?
I'm not interested but keep hearing it advertised on the radio because they will be at the amphitheatre about 2 miles from my house in August. Depending on wind direction we can usually sit on our deck and hear everything clearly when the concerts are going on in the summer.

Keep it short stupid.

That's funny on my last podcast episode the guests were talking about seeing Kiss on the farewell tour 18 years ago or something.
BTW look up "Cola Town Underground" on your podcast thing if you wanna check out our stuff

Beef is this a day of mourning for you? 50 years ago today was the last live performance of the Beatles.

Gather round children and I will tell you about the Beatles. I think Fish is referring to the 1969 rooftop concert from "Let It Be". But Beatles fans do not mourn such an occasion. The Beatles ceased to be a live performance act following their show at Candlestick Park in 1966. They made a collective decision to stop performing live because 1) the general hysteria that accompanied them wherever they went b) the difficulty of hearing themselves while playing to huge audiences using 1960's audio PA technology and 3) the increasing sophistication of their musical arrangements which now extended beyond guitar, bass and drums quartet sound.
The actual final performance was a hastily conceived one-off. It almost didn't happen, they sounded loose and sloppy, and the police eventually shut them down after a few songs. They kind of hated each other at this point anyways. The Beatles are not like the Grateful Dead. Live performance is not their legacy. They had Beatlemania on the first couple tours but their legacy is all the work they did at Abbey Road studios. The end of touring is generally regarded as the beginning of the Beatles' peak era.
