Re: What did you shoot today?
Thanks guys. My wife was told first, then this little band of brother golfers.

Congratulations mate, very well done.bkuehn1952.2 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 8:02 am Well guys, I did it. Born 71 and 10 months ago. Today I shot 71. 6,039 yards. Par 71. 69.2/115.
6 birdies. I fortunately was not thinking about shooting my age. I was just reveling in playing so well. When I got up and down for par on the 403 yard closing hole, I was feeling great. Then I added up the card and realized I had checked off a big item for my golf "career".
The thing that helped was playing with another single, "Juan". Juan was probably 55-60 years old, very up beat and talked as much as I did (which often is a lot). We just had a great time. I had noticed that there was a single signed up for the 2nd tee time of the day so I made it a 2-some.

Congrats!!! Quite impressive - you are my hero. I don't know if you consider that to be senior tees, but that's a good distance/rating to be shooting your age on.bkuehn1952.2 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 8:02 am Well guys, I did it. I hope to be able to do the same in 11 years but fear my body won't hold up. Also need a hole in one, but that's another story.
Re: What did you shoot today?
Never doubted you'd reach that goal. I'd bet it's the first of many more. You rock BK!
Re: What did you shoot today?
49/44 93 on a course I've never seen before.
We played from the back tees, a little over 6600 yards. Driver was mediocre at best but I think I may have found a setup that will give me a somewhat playable fade.
I birdied one of the par 5's and had 29 putts.
Won my match 1up after giving 8 pops.

43/42 85 At Windmill Lakes from the blues.
Putting was just OK with 32, driver was 36% left and right, 29% fairway. But with the exception of 2 bad slices, all the drives were playable just in the rough.
It was wet out there from some pretty heavy rain on Saturday. My approaches were 67% short, which is not good at all. I need to club up and swing easy when it's wet.

Re: What did you shoot today?
After BK's accomplishment last week I'm reluctant to post, but Saturday / Sunday was one of those "what a difference a day makes." Saturday had nothing for no particular reason. Shot 85 with 7 GIRS, all but one due to wedges. First hole had a nice pitch to 5 feet but missed the putt. Rest of day didn't hit a good short game shot despite many routine chances and didn't make a short putt. Only one for seven with short irons and the one I hit was 60 feet from the hole which led to a three putt. Overall, about as bad as I can play without the driver being unhinged.
Yesterday, same golfer same course totally different outcome. 76 with 12 GIRs, several great chips, lots of good short irons, made every short putt. Only tough holes were early on I tried a hero shot from a bad lie and went OB and then later had soft bogeys on 16 and 17 where I could tell I was very tired from walking in the heat and humidity. But finished 18 with a stellar drive and 9i. And yes, I broke 77 for first time this year!

Re: What did you shoot today?
Telling about today’s round mainly because it was so unusual. To set the stage, my target score is 80/+8.
Tough start today, wind was howling +15 MPH - couldn’t find the green. But through 8 holes I’m +2 despite a drive into the hazard. Four pretty good up and downs combined with two GIRS. On the hazard drive, had to drop 185 from the hole from which I hit a great 3H into the wind onto the edge of the green. On the 9th hole I drove long and right into the rough. I hit my best iron of the day, especially given the angle, wind, and lie, ball ended up about 30 feet from the hole, from which I three putted. +3 for front 9.
Back 9 was much less smooth. Hit what I thought was a good drive on 10, but the wind took it right and further right. Ended up in a waste area, right next to a wire grass plant. All I could do was punch out, from which I missed an easy wedge, but then almost holed the chip to save bogey.
#11 (par 5) great drive but hit my second into the rough. I had to keep the ball low but instead shanked it into another waster area. From there I hit a pretty good shot but missed the putt from 15 feet, now +5.
#12 (par 3) absolutely crappy iron off the tee, but another great chip that almost went in to save par.
#13 repeated number 10. From the tee I liked my tee shot but it kept drifting right and right. Ended up in the wire grass. Literally, the ball was stuck in the grass six inches above the ground. As there was no good place to drop, I tried to punch it forward, only advanced the ball 10 yards or so. From there a crappy iron and so so chip led to DB. #14 (short par 4) had a huge 5W off the tee with a lot of pissed off. From there I missed the green again and then hit a tasty pitch to three feet, except that it it needed to be two feet because three feet didn’t quite make the top level and rolled back down the hill 15 feet from the hole. Bogey, now +8.
Routine par and GIR on par 3 #15. On 16, short par 5, really nice hybrid to the fairway but terrible 2nd shot that ends up 100 yards from the hole in a bed of wood chips. Nice wedge, but a good 5 yards short of the green and probably 25 feet to the hole. I decide to putt it and take the easy par and instead hole it for birdie.
#17, nice drive to the fairway. Hit what I thought was a good 6i but the wind caught it again and pushed it off to the right. Good not great chip to 12 feet. Holed the putt to save par.
#18 totally crappy drive. From there I hit my second great iron of the day, played the wind perfectly to five feet. Sank the putt, birdie.
Overall, 78/+6. Only 5 GIRS, 7 saves, 3 unplayable drives. Rounds like that have been rare in my experience.

Re: What did you shoot today?
I have been mired in an endless series of "meh" rounds of 80, 81, 82. Sort of losing interest in playing. I guess I prefer the roller coaster to flat lining.
