I watched a fair bit of the Open yesterday. No great insights. I am pulling for Rory but he does not seem to have it this week. We will see if Harmen comes back to the field or runs away with it. He looked very solid yesterday.

I have liked Tommy Fleetwood ever since he dedicated his first big win to his dying dog, who attended the final round. Like his swing too. Unfortunately though I don't think he is that tough a competitor. Plays solid in majors but can't seem to find that extra gear.

My man J Day looks to be doing OK. However, nothing short of a catastrophe would seem to stop Harmen winning with a 5 shot lead so far.

Min Woo is acquitting himself well too.

Finally a Brian wins a major golf championship. Congrats to Bkuehn, and to a lesser extent Bryan K.

Thank you. I am sure Mr. Harman was aware how important it was to perform well as a fellow “Brian.” In the past 12 months the Brian’s have bagged two prestigious titles: the O&ELCGC-SSD and The Open.

Watched a bit of the Ryder Cup. Really hard to summon up any emotion. A bunch of golf millionaires “playing for their country or continent.”

I enjoyed watching the US lose again. Because they never take it well. In the aftermath it is not about giving the opponent credit or appreciating the camaraderie of the event or even losing with dignity. Just a bunch of sour grapes, finger pointing, and second guessing. This dumb and frankly corporate attitude that losing is somehow an unacceptable result. Let's face it this event is old hat, it is extremely 20th century. Sure it was relevant--back when golf literally did not exist outside of the US and Britain.

Pro golf is mainly about money matters at this point. I cannot really think of anything more boring.

I prefer to keep a positive outlook. That is to say, we have had an extremely good run, better than any golf-on-tv watcher could reasonably have hoped for. It is the kids today that I pity. They are bereft.

It seems like the "peace treaty" between the Tour and LIV has opened the door for big pay days and more defections to LIV.
