When will DougE pass bkuehn1952?

Post by bkuehn1952 » Wed Oct 31, 2018 7:02 am

I noticed that DougE has played one time since October 19 (a 77, btw). One round in almost 2 weeks is fairly unusual, even in Winter.

Then I noted that he was over 1,000 scores posted (1,051). My 1,196 includes 2 extra years (started in 2007 versus Doug in 2009). Barring injury, I think DougE passes me in 2021. He has better weather, belongs to a club, has similar or more free time and I am too old to play 5-7 times a week. Still, I am enjoying lengthening my lead right now. ;)
Let's Play 36
GHIN Handicap: 7.8 … 9.2 … Let’s just say I am around a 14!

I'm believing Doug's not posting for some reason. No way I believe that he isn't playing.

I've been playing 3 or 4 days a week or more. (19 rounds in October.) Not posting much though. Bored with SG360 ever since I lost the option to post more specific stats when my subscription was up a few months back. Fairways, greens and putts are all I can track now. Since I keep my official scores on the Maryland State Golf Association site, I typically only post to SG if there is something worth posting or if there is something in the notes I might want to remember. So pay no attention to whatever that handicap is. The only one that matters is the official one, which coincidentally just got updated today to 5.9. I'm not sure how it got down there, but I am as surprised as anyone. Lowest ever for me. I certainly don't feel like I play to that level very often. Yesterday I played like an 18, at best. I quit after 12 holes when my cart went dead. It was a great excuse. My playing partner (also a member) and I were not enjoying ourselves anyway. 72 degrees and a packed course equaled a 2:45-minute front nine. I've become spoiled playing here. When it gets too busy, as long as I'm not having a great round, I just go home.

For what it's worth, I have 156 rounds in 2018 marked on my calendar so far (which does not count the days I am out there just practicing on the course, hitting multiple balls, and not keeping score). That's behind last year at this time. Yet, my SG360 account only lists 80-85 rounds in 2018. That's pure poppycock. I just didn't bother entering 1/2 of them because there was nothing worth remembering. I hope to end up the year somewhere around 175-180 total rounds of 9 holes or more. Last year I finished with 199 if memory serves.

I hate to burst any bubbles, but I likely have another 200-300 rounds or more that never got entered on Oob or SG over the years. And though I do still have some shoulder issues, I have been maintaining them pretty well since getting to Maryland. I think that leaving my last career working on boats helped. I'll never be driving the ball much over 250 regularly again, but I can still get one out there every now and then.

Phew, thank God. I was a little worried. If Doug had stopped playing I would've gone over the edge of depression probably. There are few things in the world in 2018 that I feel I can count on and Dougie's abiding love for stupidass golf is one of them.
Build a bridge and get over it.
