True. South America is not a golf friendly continent, but it’s a goal of a sort to play there some day.

Had an early morning round at my "home" course, Leslie Park. Paired up with a young man from Japan, who it working at University of Michigan as a researcher. His first drive was impressive. Blue Tee. The old guy played from the White. Turns out Ninshi (I think that is how he pronounced his name) is somewhat of a beginner and that first drive was his last really good shot. I, on the other hand impressed the heck out of Ninshi, shooting 38 on the first niine. My new buddy had to go to work so I played the back nine alone. 38/37/75. Surprised the heck out of me as I had struggled a bit at Leslie.

Niinshi mentioned that he had a weekday golf pass and hoped to run into me again. I will keep my eye out for him.

One of those I can't believe it weekends. Yesterday, I didn't feel right at all. I hadn't slept most of the week due to work and I'm pretty sure I was dehydrated. Regardless, crazy bad with a variety of bad drives, big pulls, and shanks. I shot 50/45/95 with 7 DBs and 2 pars from tasty chips on the front 9. Probably my worst round in 10+ years, 9 DBs / TBs. Only good stat is that I parred #17 to give me 5 pars to offset the 5 shanks.

Today was feeling better but still shanking the ball on the driving range. Not expecting much but held it together to be +2 after 5, then a kick in birdie and two good misses that allowed easy chips for par / +1 after 8. While on 8 the horn blew for lightning nearby. We felt we could play #9 without danger, so an okay drive and a really creative approach left me 15 downhill for birdie. At this point the storm is getting closer, so I putted quickly just trying to get to gimme range so that we could finish 9 and of course the putt trickled in. Even par 36, 14 strokes better than yesterday. WTF?

It was terrible yesterday. I could not get a tee shot to stick. 47/45 92 on the same course I shot an 84 at the week before.

It is reassuring to occasionally go to the course with low expectations and surprise yourself. Nice playing.

Pretty good weekend of golf, I actually played twice.

Sunday was at Seneca Metro Parks, shot a 45/41 86.

Monday was at Manakiki, shot 43/43 86.
