CeeBee has two rounds in the books for 2025. Too damn cold, windy and snowy for Delaware. Abnormally cold.

Rounds 15&16 this weekend setting a Jan/Feb personal record. Really struggling to score right now - 88 and 83 - way too many really bad shots and not capitalizing on the better shots. Need the Bermuda to grow out fast.

Same story here. Rounds 3and 4 this week. Many good shots and just as many poor shots. Going out today tomorrow and Saturday. Well behind last several years at this early stage.

Most of the courses have opened and I played last Tuesday, Thursday and today, Friday. Each of my scores were arrived at in different ways but they all added up to "80." A sage golf observer once said, "80 is about 3 strokes higher than 79." Very true.

Today is sort of stumbled around for the first nine and carded a 44. I decided to re-assess my efforts and made a little adjustment. Just what I needed. Shot even par 36 on the second nine. Yes, it is still an 80 but I feel a bit more positive about this session. Taking the weekend off. Next week my two favorite local venues will finally open (Pierce Lake and Leslie Park). I will need to visit each soon.

First time out yesterday and we have an hour frost delay but it turned in to such a nice day, I even broke a little sweat walking 18.

I played Shawnee Hills, which is a Cleveland Metroparks course. Shot a 51/41 92. I was really terrible on the front and then played some good golf on the back, so for the first time out this year, I was pleased with my play.

I'm in a golf funk again. Not playing badly, but almost every round is mediocre, 2-3 strokes higher than what I would call good, just a few shots off here and there. Quite frustrating. Last 11 rounds over the last two months - 1 good, 1 bad, 9 mediocre.

Today a disappointing 83 - through 5 I had 5 GIR's and was +1 only due to a misread. Then on 6&7 two big pulls lead to 2 DB's. Last 13 holes only two GIRs but five bunkers. With the exception of the two pulls and one angry driver, really didn't hit the ball that badly, but was just a little bit off. Left two putts directly in the cup two inches short. You get the picture, a little bit of everything being a little bit off.

I have been bumping along shooting 80-82. As with golf almost all of the time, "it's always something." We did play a fun round on a par 70, 5,200 yard layout. Hit a "par 5" in two, drove a par-4. Made "3, 3, 3, 3" in the middle of the round. I did not put the 74 scorecard in my hall of fame, however.

45/49 94. It was terrible. I need to do a lot of bunker practice. I had 7 shots between 2 bunkers...yeah.

Hate to complain but I'm in a total golf funk. Lots of time at the range lately, starting to show some improvements. Played 9 after work 3 times this week - all really strong outings (two were solo).

Yesterday I was totally solid for the front nine - +2. Only bogeys were blown wedges. Even then I could easily been even par as on one hole I chipped to 5 feet and missed the putt and the other I had a routine sand shot only to find my ball in an unranked footprint. Regardless I was sailing along.

Back nine totally unravelled. Iron into the water on #10, which was really a shot selection issue, poor three putt on #11, 3W tee shot goes 100 yards off the tee when the wind really gusts mid-swing, a 5W (my most reliable longer club that occasionally hooks but never slices) sliced OB, a bad 8i, and a bad drive / beautiful 5W recovery followed by an awful chip. You get the picture, not one thing leaving me but everything. Still got home with an 82, which is another mediocre score, but handicap this morning is the highest it has been since 2016.

After today I will have about 10 days away from golf - I think that will be good for me.

After yesterday I'm feeling totally cursed. To break mediocrity I need to shoot 80, really 79. So yesterday I'm playing mediocre golf - one bogey, on par, nothing bad or particularly good. That changes when I birdie 14 with a super putt and then routine par on 15, +6 with three to go.. 16 is a par 5 that is about the tee shot - a good one, which I hit, should be par or birdie. Except my reliable 5W failed me and a bogey, +7 with two to go. 17 is a very difficult hole, but I hit the perfect tee shot and 7i into the green for a very routine par.

So all I need is a par (or even bogey on 18). The toughest part of 18 is the tee shot, and I hit another perfect one. 9i in which I pull into the bunker. But I'm okay with that because missing right is wet and the ball appears to be pin high in the bunker, so getting out should be easy and I realistically expect based upon the distance to be within 10-15 feet or closer. Only when I get to the green, the ball is much further back than expected and is sitting in the worst fried egg you can imagine. Just miss getting out in one, DB / 81 / +9 / mediocrity continues. Very frustrating.
